salmon poisoning
a form of poisoning in dogs, other carnivores, and occasionally humans, commonly in the Pacific Northwest, from eating raw fish, especially salmon and trout, that are parasitized by the fluke Troglotrema salmincola, which serves as a vector for various rickettsiae. Neorickettsia helminthoeca causes haemorrhagic enteritis. See also salmon disease
